The Laboratory Soete has built up its reputation in large-scale testing of welds (curved wide plate).
Numerous studies have been undertaken on the weldability and fracture resistance of the new generation pipeline steels, mainly on the basis of private sponsoring. The Laboratory is one of the driving forces in developing defect acceptance criteria for pipeline girth welds.
