About International Society For Trenchless Technology

Since its establishment in 1986, ISTT has served as the leading international organization dedicated to the advancement of trenchless technology through education, research, innovation, and the exchange of technical knowledge. Representing a global network of 28 affiliated national trenchless societies serving 40 countries across six continents, ISTT promotes sustainable underground infrastructure solutions that minimize environmental impacts, reduce community disruption, and improve the safety and efficiency of utility and pipeline construction. Numerous IPLOCA members are currently members of their respective ISTT affiliated national societies.
The missions of ISTT and IPLOCA are highly complementary. As the global pipeline industry increasingly adopts trenchless construction methods—including horizontal directional drilling (HDD), microtunneling, pipe jacking, direct pipe, and other advanced installation technologies—the opportunities for collaboration between our organizations continue to grow. Together, we can promote technical excellence, foster innovation, and support the development of best practices that benefit pipeline owners, contractors, engineers, manufacturers, and the broader infrastructure community.
ISTT has long recognized the important leadership role that IPLOCA plays in advancing the international pipeline industry through its commitment to safety, innovation, environmental stewardship, and professional development.
