CPP’s welding crew achieves continuous quality record

The CPP213 welding crew of China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co., Ltd (CPP) working on Section 1 of the Zaoyang–Xuancheng link line of the Sichuan to Eastern China Gas Transmission Pipeline Project (Line II) has completed 2,052 consecutive welds that passed all non-destructive tests (AUT and DR) without a single repair since construction began on 15 March 2025.

This achievement reflects stable quality performance and resulted in cost savings of nearly USD 27,500. This section extends 349 km with a design pressure of 10 MPa and a diameter of 1,016 mm. As a key part of the Sichuan to Eastern China Gas Transmission Pipeline Project (Line II), the section will enhance regional gas transmission capacity and interconnectivity. Working through complex terrain, flood-season conditions, and high summer temperatures, the CPP213 crew maintained steady progress—achieving 32 welds in a single day and completing 5.2 km of pipeline in July. The record demonstrates disciplined construction management, rigorous inspection control, and a consistent commitment to ensuring pipeline quality and operational integrity.
