Bendforce Plays Key Role in EACOP Project

Bendforce GmbH played a key role in the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project in Uganda and Tanzania, one of the largest pipeline infrastructure projects currently being executed in Africa. Bendforce’s involvement was of particular importance, as the company is the only known provider worldwide capable of internally bending DN600 pipes made of X60 and X65 steel with wall thicknesses of up to 23.83 mm. This unique capability enabled the successful execution of critical pipeline sections that would have been extremely challenging to realize using conventional bending methods.

Using two proprietary internal pipe bending machines, Bendforce successfully bent more than 1,000 large-diameter pipes made of high-strength X60 and X65 steel grade over a period of approximately 14 months under demanding field conditions. The project involved a wide range of pipe dimensions and wall thicknesses from 10.54 mm up to 23.83 mm, demonstrating the versatility, reliability, and performance of the technology in a large-scale industrial environment. A particular focus of the project was international knowledge transfer. Bendforce trained personnel of the main contractor to independently operate the internal bending equipment, ensuring sustainable know-how transfer and long-term operational capability on site
