Spiecapag Secures Strategic Infrastructure Contract for Epic Energy in Australia

piecapag has been awarded the Pelican Point Lateral Pipeline Relocation Project by Epic Energy, reinforcing the company’s strong position in delivering complex pipeline infrastructure across Australia. The project will see the delivery of a new 3.9-kilometre DN450 gas pipeline on South Australia’s Lefevre Peninsula, approximately 19 kilometres northwest of Adelaide.

Alongside the installation of the new buried pipeline, Spiecapag’s full scope includes a 660-metre horizontal directional drill (HDD) beneath the Port Adelaide River, construction of associated facilities, and decommissioning of the existing Pelican Point Lateral. Awarded under an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract, the project forms part of Epic Energy’s Moomba to Adelaide Pipeline System (MAPS). The relocation has been initiated by Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) to maintain reliable gas supply while enabling the continued development of the Osborne Naval Shipyard, a key component of Australia’s national defence infrastructure program. The project will be delivered in accordance with AS/NZS 2885 standards and stringent environmental, safety and cultural heritage requirements. “Securing this project is a testament to the confidence our clients place in Spiecapag’s engineering expertise and delivery capability,” said John Walsh, Managing Director of Spiecapag Australia. “The Pelican Point Lateral relocation combines complex pipeline construction, major HDD works and critical infrastructure outcomes. Mobilisation is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026, with completion scheduled for late 2027 or early 2028. The project will also create opportunities for both local and interstate workers, supporting employment and capability development across the sector.
