Murphy lands key gas terminal infrastructure project in Scotland

Murphy has been appointed by National Gas to oversee a multi-million pound infrastructure project at the St Fergus Gas Terminal, located on the north-east coast of Scotland.
The St Fergus Gas Terminal is a critical component of Great Britain’s energy landscape, contributing between 25% and 50% of the nation’s natural gas supply.

It serves as a crucial entry point for gas from the UK Continental Shelf and Norway, feeding into the National Transmission System. Additionally, the terminal receives processed gas from three sub-terminals operated by Shell, Ancala and North Sea Midstream Partners. Murphy’s partnership with National Gas at St Fergus is well-established, with previous collaborations encompassing a variety of complex engineering and construction projects. These have ranged from asset health interventions to actuator replacements and cathodic protection enhancements. The latest project involves the design, construction and commissioning of three low-emission compressor units, alongside extensive civil, electrical, mechanical and piping work along with OEM rotating equipment.

As the UK continues to seek ways to enhance its energy infrastructure and comply with environmental standards, projects like the MCPD Compressor Project at St Fergus stand out as pivotal steps toward a more sustainable future.
