Transforming Kazakhstan’s petrochemical future: CCC and Tecnimont secure GSU contract
Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), in partnership with Tecnimont, has been awarded the Gas Separation Unit (GSU) project in Tengiz, Kazakhstan, by KMG PetroChem (KMGPC). This milestone project supports Kazakhstan’s national strategy to grow its petrochemical sector and increase the value generated from its natural gas reserves.
The GSU facility will focus on extracting ethane and propane from dry gas supplied by Tengizchevroil (TCO). These components will serve as feedstock for future polyethylene production, while simultaneously reducing flaring and supporting cleaner, more efficient gas utilization. The project is a cornerstone of Kazakhstan’s broader industrial diversification and energy sustainability goals. The EPCC scope includes state-of-the-art gas separation systems. It also involves the installation of several flowlines and pipelines, ranging from 2” to 30” in diameter, to connect the existing TCO infrastructure to the new GSU facility.
These pipelines are vital for the delivery of feed gas and full integration with upstream systems.KMGPC, a subsidiary of KazMunayGas (KMG), is leading the development with a strong focus on local content, skills transfer, and economic impact. The GSU project will create jobs, enhance industrial capability, and deliver long-term environmental and economic benefits to Kazakhstan.
