Oaka Constructions in Queensland, Australia, led by Construction Manager Kelly Barbarich, has adopted Vacuworx’s vacuum lifting technology to handle pipe for a project in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
This decision came after a previous workplace accident involving traditional lifting methods prompted a search for safer pipe handling methods. Vacuworx’s products were selected for their efficient and hands-off pipe lifting capabilities. Utilising the vacuum lifting system drastically reduced the risks to workers, while improving operational efficiency for the project. The Vacuworx system can lift a pipe within just 2 seconds, a process that would traditionally involve two workers and considerably more time. Specifically, the company used Vacuworx’s MC 5 system, which is able to lift up to 5 tonnes.
