Bin Quraya Awarded Construction of HDPE Trunkline in Saudi Arabia

Bin Quraya Co. Ltd. has been awarded the contract for the construction of the SFNY 24” HDPE trunkline, starting from 20 June 2023.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2024, and will increase the capacity of the Safaniya field, the largest offshore oil field in the world, located north of Eastern Province in Saudi Arabia. The scope of the works covers the construction of a new 12,108 km 24” A/G trunkline to dispose of water from SFNY-GOSP-01 to drill sites (K1, E1, J1, D1, I1, C1, H1, and G1); the supply and installation of a HDPE liner for 24” CS pipe; the supply and installation of Roto-lining for 120 24” line spools, the HDD of SFYN GOSP-01 SSD fence and asphalt/marl road; the buried pipeline construction of rig roads and marl road crossings; soil improvement prior to placing foundations in watery areas; civil works, including right of way, camel crossings, TPS, sleepers, 1080 valve supports; a total of 1091 foundations; HDPE repair cold cuts of existing 12” injection lines feeding drill site K1 and E1; demolition of existing spools for new 12” jump over connection; and, hydro-testing and pre-commissioning.

The major challenges include de-watering and soil improvement of the Sabkha areas where foundations are to be installed; HDD and SSD fence and security roads of GOSP- 01; geotechnical, encroachment and industrial security permits; and, HDPE lining at site and associated hydro testing.
