DS1 completes new green hydrogen pipeline welding and inspection
DS1 has completed underground pipeline welding and testing works as part of the Port of Klaipėda’s green hydrogen production and supply project. This initiative is considered the first hydrogen infrastructure project of its kind in Lithuania and represents an important milestone in the country’s transition toward alternative clean fuels.DS1 participated in the project as a subcontractor, delivering specialised welding and inspection services for the underground pipeline system intended for hydrogen transport.
The works were performed in line with strict quality and safety requirements, applying technologies designed to ensure long-term tightness and durability under extreme operating conditions. All welded joints were subject to non-destructive testing procedures to verify integrity and reliability throughout the pipeline’s service life. To confirm operational safety, the pipeline — designed for a maximum working pressure of 900 bar — was successfully pressure-tested at 1,275 bar, meeting applicable testing standards.
The project supports the development of green hydrogen infrastructure at the Port of Klaipėda and aims to enable the future use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel in the maritime and transport sectors across the Baltic region.
