Geocean engaged in landmark FLNG project offshore Congo

Geocean, a unit of VINCI Construction Grands Projets, has been selected by Wison New Energies to undertake the transportation and installation of the mooring system for the ENI Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facility located on the Marine XII block, offshore the Republic of Congo.

This strategic infrastructure aims to harness the block’s substantial gas reserves to bolster the country’s energy autonomy, support exports and embrace low-carbon technologies. Set at a water depth of 33 metres, the mooring system comprises a foundation package made of three drilled and grouted piles, each with a diameter of 2.5 metres, and a subsea anchoring system made of a swivel and yoke (SSY). Once operational, the FLNG unit will have an annual production capacity of 2.4 million metric tons of LNG, with the potential to reach 4.5 billion cubic metres of gas per year by 2025. Site activities began in early January, and the project is currently progressing offshore. The initial maritime operations have been completed, with final installation of the mooring system scheduled for completion in the coming weeks. This project exemplifies Geocean’s commitment to delivering complex offshore energy solutions in challenging environments, reinforcing its role as a key player in the transition toward more sustainable energy systems.
