Glavbolgarstroy engaged as main contractor for Bulgarian sections of Vertical Gas Corridor

One of the largest construction groups in Southeastern Europe, Glavbolgarstroy (GBS) has been engaged as the main contractor for the realisation of strategic sections of the VGC project on Bulgarian territory. GBS is the leading partner and main contractor under joint ventures “HILL INTERNATIONAL–GBS 1” and “HILL INTERNATIONAL–GBS 3”, executing two of the three lots of the Vertical Gas Corridor project in Bulgaria.

These include Lot 1 “Looping Kulata – Kresna” – DN 700, 48 km, 7.5 MPa and Lot 3 “Looping Rupcha – Vetrino” – DN 1200, 61 km, 5.4 MPa. The scope includes routing, environmental permitting, detailed design, and full EPC delivery of gas transmission infrastructure suitable for transporting natural gas, biomethane, hydrogen, and their blends. Construction works include complex crossings of roads, railways, and rivers using trenchless technologies such as Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) and auger boring. HDD operations are carried out with high-performance equipment, including the American Augers DD 600.

Construction works for Lot 1 are in progress, while Lot 3 is awaiting a construction permit. More than 200 specialists and extensive heavy machinery are mobilized to meet tight deadlines across challenging terrain, including rocky, sandy, and steep areas. These projects showcase GBS’s capacity to deliver high-quality, large-scale energy infrastructure while upholding our core value: “Trust earned through quality.”
