Techint – SACDE JV leads Argentina’s largest oil transportation project in 50 years
default

The Techint – SACDE (50/50) joint venture (JV) continues to play a vital role in the development of Argentina’s energy infrastructure by developing the most significant oil pipeline project in the country in the last 50 years.

The Vaca Muerta Sur Oil Pipeline Project (VMOS) entails building a 437 km (271 mi) pipeline with a 30-inch diameter, from Allen to Punta Colorada on the Atlantic coast in the province of Río Negro. The construction team must overcome several technical challenges, including the execution of 22 special crossings. Two of these will be carried out using Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) technology. The project will employ more than 2,000 people directly, and a considerable number of indirect jobs will be generated, which will have a positive economic impact in the region. VMOS will represent a significant improvement in the evacuation and export capacity of crude oil from Vaca Muerta. Once operational by the end of 2026, it is expected to increase Argentina’s exports via the Atlantic by more than 380,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd). Subsequently, this capacity is projected to reach 690,000 bpd with the addition of two new pumping stations.
