Aging Infrastructure tops industry challenges, TAMUCC survey reveals
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Coastal Bend Midstream Program, in partnership with GPA Midstream, conducted the 2025 “Top Ten Issues Facing the Midstream Industry” annual survey of USA-based midstream pipeline and service companies, which yielded the following results.
The top 10 issues, in order, were aging infrastructure, government/regulatory, tariffs/trade, permitting, human capital, public perception, supply chain, safety, upstream behaviour, and planning difficulties. The most notable shift compared to the 2024 survey was that human capital, which has been the top issue for several years, fell to #5 behind issues generally related to governmental matters – government/regulatory, tariffs/trade, and permitting. Also of interest was a material separation of views between a panel of executive respondents and the respondents in their entirety on four of the ten issues – a first for this annual survey. This divergence between the groups is unique when compared to the four previous surveys, and it may suggest an opportunity for improved communication on strategic goals in some companies. The survey is available in the newsfeed at: cbmp.tamucc.edu.
